Bonne Esperance House is located in the heart of downtown St. John's, Newfoundland. Each dwelling is a three-story, Victorian style home with bay windows on the first and second floors and peaked dormer windows on the third. These homes, located on Gower Street were built after the Great Fire of 1892. The city of St. John's archives show two of the homes where built around 1897, while the remaining two were built somewhere between 1898 and 1900. Today, these former single-family dwellings make up this heritage bed and breakfast.
Bonne Esperance offers a variety of furnished rooms and luxury suites in all shapes and sizes. They include original pine hardwood floors, custom interior design, decorative mouldings, original stained glass, a unique collection of Newfoundland art and a traditional focus on antique furnishings with a modern flair.
Backing onto the property is a luscious garden, complete with winding walkways, wild ivy and colourful flowers. This peaceful garden is an inviting place to sit on a sunny afternoon to chat, read or simply enjoy a cup of tea and homemade treats.
