Traveling is exciting but it is dependant on a multitude of details. We know you have a thousand things to remember, and overlooking just one can result in frustration. To help make this process a little easier we have a compiled a vacation checklist to help get you ready for your holiday.

• In case of an emergency do I have sufficient medical insurance?

• Have I checked with my insurance company to see if I'm covered on a rental car or do I need to purchase car rental Insurance? ( If you are not a Canadian citizen, be sure to advise your insurance provider that you will be traveling in another country.)

• Only your spouse is covered through car rental policies, additional charges will apply if a non-related driver plans to drive your car rental.

• A major credit card imprint is required upon securing your car rental and a deposit will be held until the car is safely returned. (Credit card must be in Driver's name)

• As there have been significant changes to immigration policies, please ensure you are traveling with the necessary travel documents. ( For Canadian citizens, traveling to Saint Pierre et Miquelon, you will require a valid passport to enter these French Islands.)

• The weather in Atlantic Canada can be a little unpredictable and is also sometime cooler in the evenings, please bring a jacket or fleece as well as rain gear and comfortable footwear.

• Your itinerary is included in your package documents, it may be a good idea to make a copy to leave with a relative so someone has your contact information.

• The changes within the airline industry have resulted in longer lines, please plan to arrive at the airport a full 90 minutes prior to departure for domestic travel and 2 hours prior to departure for International travel.

• Please do not forget any necessary medication.

• For people traveling to PEI, there is a toll on the Confederation Bridge when you depart the province, this is not included in your package price. All major credit cards are accepted.

• Seat selection on flights is not always available at time of booking. If your seats have not been pre-selected, please ensure that you arrive at least 90 minutes prior to departure to secure seats.

• Bring lots of film! (You will definitely see many beautiful and fascinating things you will want to capture on film!)

• Some of our Maritime tours require the use of ferries that are not included in your package. The ferry from Digby, NS to Saint John, NB should be pre-booked and can be by calling 1.888.249.7245 or visit www.nfl-bay.com. The fee for this ferry is $75.00 vehicle and $35.00 for each passenger. The Wood Islands ferry that runs between PEI and NS offers frequent sailings and reservations are not permitted. The fee for this ferry is $49.00 (for vehicle and all passengers). • Tax Rebates: Throughout your travels you’ll see flyers and brochures promoting tax refunds for visitors. Please be advised that Maxxim Vacations calculates the tax based upon your place of origin and there are no tax refunds on the package portion of your trip as they will not be charged.
