Québec is Canada’s largest province, bounded on the north by Hudson Strait and Ungava Bay, on the east by Labrador and the Gulf of St. Lawrence, on the south by New Brunswick and the United States and on the west by Ontario, James Bay, and Hudson Bay. The Canadian Shield underlies the northern nine tenths of the province, which is relatively unexplored and uninhabited. South of the Canadian Shield lies the St. Lawrence River. The province is abundant in waterways, compromised of 71,000 square miles of lakes, rivers and other bodies of water.
