Alberta is located in Western Canada and is bordered by Saskatchewan on the east and British Columbia on the west, where it follows the Rocky Mountain range along the Continental Divide. To the south it boarders the U.S. state of Montana. Alberta contains many stunning lakes and rivers, excellent for water sports such as swimming, canoeing, fishing and more! The Rocky Mountains allow for world-class skiing and snowboarding, hiking, camping and numerous other outdoor activities. The capital city of Edmonton is located near the geographical centre of the province. Edmonton is the transportation and distribution hub of Alberta and the main centre for services in the oil fields. Calgary is located in Southern Alberta and is the largest city in the province. The total population of Alberta is approximately 3.5 million.
